Happy Saturday. Today I did not partake in the weekly long/group run. I probably could have, but instead I slept in. That’s a rarity – so I went with it. It’s okay though because tomorrow I have a 5k at a local park, so I’m still set to get something in. It’s a women’s 5k limited to 300 participants. Its a smaller run, so I’m lookjng forward to it. Today we did the early packet pick up
and I even got a free 10 minute massage. It was nice…except my body definitely needs more than 10 minutes!
With this coming up :
I’ve picked up overtime at work so that I can have extra spending money during the best weekend ever… But that means working 12+ hour days, which has totally killed my mojo, brain, and my muscles.
I did get a few runs in this week, but they were short ones. After sitting for hours at a computer, muscles stiffen and do not really want to run. I also skipped all of my strength workouts. I’m struggling with that portion of my fitness plan lately. I’m currently not training with my trainer but am counting the days until I go back. I’m sorry – but making myself do burpees, mountain climbers, and jump squats is like – cutting myself with a rusty old knife. It’s just not fun and I do not want to do it. So when the Nike training plan says strength day, and lists a workout – I tend to completely ignore it. Terrible, I know.
The combination of the two caused me to notice a difference during my runs this last week, lead legs and way less endurance were just 2 of the things I felt. All Bad. Plus, I’m so mentally drained at the end of the day,
I struggle with those inner-lazy-girl demons that try so hard to convince me that I need to stay inside and vegetate.
A fireman festival?! Sign me up! We didn’t stay long, because we were on a mission. My sister, who never eats cake, found out about a gluten free bakery that was “around the corner.” Over a half mile later, we finally arrived and got cupcakes. I got a coconut one.
It was paradise in a paper wrapper. But it was also sugar overload! I could only manage to eat half. (side note: this is a new thing for me…in my past life I would have devoured that cupcake without even really tasting it. So yay for that.)
I’m thinking of doing a half marathon at my favorite park on New Years Day with my favorite race company, so I have to try (once again) to get focused…
Hopefully after Disney, I will be refreshed and raring to go. The half marathon weekend kicks off a 2 week vacation for me – and I am counting down the days! And minutes…and seconds….
